As a relaxation technique, meditating, especially before bedtime, helps with sleep issues and insomnia by improving the body's relaxation responses.

It also helps with a variety of physiological and chemical changes within the body which help to initiate sleep.

These changes assist with influencing specific processes such as increasing the melatonin and serotonin production, reducing the heart rate, decreasing blood pressure, and activating parts of the mid brain in charge of our sleep cycle, and circadian rhythm.
